Certified Teacher with the Ottawa Carleton District School Board, a graduate of the University of Toronto, Cheryl holds professional qualifications for teaching elementary and High School student, and has taught in Ontario Schools for almost 20 years.

Apart from her Special Education Specialist qualifications for teaching students who are learning disabled or gifted, Cheryl also has expertise and experience as a teacher of E.S.L. and Dramatic Arts.  A program designer and facilitator for parent and child workshops Cheryl has delivered seminars to low income families, students, managers and executives on "True Colors - understanding behaviour and temperament".  From working with the "M.O.P.s" (Mothers of pre-schoolers) to working with the "N.O.P.s" (Natives overcoming penal service) Cheryl has gathered a wealth of insight for serving people: "It takes a village to raise a child; every child can be a genius; and we have more than enough to do good things for others" are more than quotes she has treasured. Cheryl's move to Ottawa and establishing the ALIVE! Program with a team of like-minded partners brings these sayings to life.

Monjur Chowdhury is a dedicated specialist and strategist in socio-economical planning, development and implementation. He is also experienced in managing cross-functional and cross-cultural teams. Monjur has been successful in building strategic partnerships and global distribution networks. Dr. Chowdhury obtained his Bachelor, Master and Ph.D., degrees in Electrical Engineering, specialized in Renew-able Energy from Moscow Technical University (Moscow Power Engineering Institute), Russia. He also obtained his Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), from Queen’s University in Canada and Teaching certificate from Ontario College of Teachers. Among with his academic and professional background he also successfully accomplished the following:

Sumia Ibrahim has more than nine years of teaching experience working with primary, high schools and adults. She obtained her Bachelor of Education degree from Queen’s University, Canada. She has also a Bachelor of Sciences (Chemistry and Zoology), degree from Khartoum University. She is fluent in English, Arabic with a basic French knowledge. Ms. Ibrahim has been working as an occasional teacher both in Public and Catholic School Board in Ottawa.

Samina Terai is a certified teacher in Ontario. She obtained her Education degree from University of Queen’s, Canada. She is also trained to achieve a Diploma in early Childcare and Education. Ms. Terai has also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bombay University, Bombay, India.  She majored in Psychology and Sociology.  Ms. Terai did work   in BlackStar Resource Center, Ottawa and taught in Reksap Kindergarten and School Age Program. Presently she is tutoring at Sylvan learning Center- Ottawa.

Dr. Nasrin Khan is a researcher and an educator. In 1998 she obtained a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia (Specialization: Inorganic and Solid State Chemistry). She worked as a Post-doctoral research Assistant in the Department of Chemistry, Division of Chemical Technology, Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia from October, 1998 - June, 2000. The theme of her work was “Development of principles of construction of materials for ecology clean energy and solid-stated electronics”. She also supervised undergraduate research projects. Dr. Khan is a member, The Canadian Society for Chemistry and an executive member of Roch Carrier Elementary School Council

Dr. Akhtar Hossain earned his Ph. D. (2006) degree in Civil (Transportation) Engineering from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Carleton University, Ottawa. He obtained his M.Eng. (1996), Civil (Transportation) Engineering from School of Civil Engineering, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand.

Dr. Hossain taught  Courses in Mechanics of Solids (CIVE 2200), Numerical Methods (CIVE 2606), and Transportation Engineering and Planning (CIVE 3304) at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Carleton University, Ottawa, ON, Canada. He also worked as Tenured Lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering, Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, Bangladesh.

Ray Folkins, CA, CMA, CMC, MBA, MM

Ray is a past member of the Institutes of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick (since 1976), and is currently a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, Ray has four years of wide-ranging experience with two large international CA firms and after returning to public accounting in 2003 to form the partnership CA firm Watson Folkins Corey LLP, he has worked on a variety of not-for-profit and co-operative audit engagements.

Ray has seven years experience as the CFO of three large Atlantic Canadian organizations including Clearwater Fine Foods Inc. (formerly Clearwater Lobsters Ltd.) and Saint Mary’s University. In 1983, Ray founded his own management consulting firm as a business restructuring and turnaround specialist and provided an extensive range of management consulting services for a wide variety of businesses operating throughout Atlantic Canada.

Ray taught business management and accounting courses from 1983 to 1996 on a part-time basis at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, was Vice-Chair and Chair, National Board of Examiners, Society of Management Accountants of Canada and was President, Institute of Certified Management Consultants of Atlantic Canada. Ray has also completed the Certificate Program in Adult Education from Dalhousie University Henson College. Currently, Ray pursues his passion for motivating and teaching young people as a part-time Professor of business and accounting at Algonquin College, Ottawa.

From 1996 to 2001, Ray was Vice-President, Atlantic Canada, for the Canadian Youth Business Foundation, a registered charity established to help young people ages 18 to 29 to choose entrepreneurship as a career option. His region accounted for 40% of Canada-wide youth business start ups. In 1999, Ray was awarded a full scholarship to complete the McGill-McConnell Master of Management (MM) Program for National Voluntary Sector Leaders on a part-time basis and graduated in 2002.

Ray relocated from Halifax to the Ottawa area in 2003 and established P4 Bottomline Inc. as a business consulting firm and co-founded P4 Social Venture Entrepreneurs (with David Newing, founder of the Canadian Youth Business Foundation), a social enterprise consulting agency focused on assisting non-profit and charity startups and expansions. P4’s mission is to help the world embrace “fair market capitalism” as a new breed of entrepreneurship that begins with individuals and community groups wishing to establish small businesses, co-operatives, social enterprises and non-profit organizations to achieve sustainable prosperity and to help eradicate poverty.

Ray has advised non-profits and other organizations engaged in sustainable development, community economic development, and youth and children’s causes. Ray assisted in establishing The Natural Step (TNS) Canada in Ottawa and through P4 Bottomline Inc. assisted in acquiring the funding for Halifax to host the Global Microcredit Summit in November 2006 with Dr. Mohammad Yunus, the 2006 Nobel Peace prize recipient and many other international dignitaries.

Recently, P4 Bottomline Inc. assisted a fast growing Ottawa based fair trade co-operative to implement an open source customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) system as a major strategic investment initiative to help plan and manage future growth.

As a Partner with Watson Folkins Corey LLP and President & CEO of P4 Bottomline Inc. and Co President of P4 Social Venture Entrepreneurs, Ottawa based consulting firms focused primarily on business and social enterprise start-up and development for co-operatives and non-profits, Ray has established an extraordinary network of professionals with the expertise and capacity to serve the full auditing, accounting and consulting needs of a wide variety of clients.

In addition to his professional memberships, Ray is a member the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE), the Canadian Worker Co-op Federation (CWCF) and the Canadian Community Economic Development Network (CCEDNet). Ray is also a Vice President of the Chelsea Chamber of Commerce.

Urooj Qureshi

With multicultural grooming and international upbringing, Urooj has emerged as a dynamic young entrepreneur who has found his niche in innovative marketing and communications. Urooj started his career at the turn of the new millennium when he was selected to join a team of five managers for a high-profile Young Presidents Organization (YPO) event, in his home town of Karachi, Pakistan. After a spectacular show, Urooj went on to join a team of experts, pioneering the development of gaming and communications technologies in Pakistan. At NMC Technologies Ltd., Urooj served as an Associate Creative Director, spearheading the creation of Pakistan’s fist Online Job Board and 3D arcade game.

Urooj landed his first job in Ottawa as Marketing Coordinator at the University of Ottawa. Urooj worked hard, managing various marketing campaigns, fundraising, and managing events while doing advocacy-work to create a culturally tolerant campus and a support system for Foreign Students. Urooj initiated various programs for Foreign Students that are accepted and now funded by the University Administration.
In 2004, Urooj retired from university politics to help small to medium size businesses, he had previously served as advertising clients and sponsors while at the University of Ottawa, to develop and define their marketing and communications strategies. This decision gave birth to Alternative Media Solutions & Technologies (which later became known as AMST). AMST gave Urooj the opportunity to provide services to an impressive roster of clients that includes McAfee Antivirus, Business Network International, Volunteer Canada, and MoneyGram International. AMST’s services encompassed nearly all areas of Integrated Marketing and Communications (IMC).  Urooj thoroughly enjoys the entrepreneurial roller-coaster ride. In 2007, Urooj explored the opportunity of a marketing and advertising agency to bridge the gap between traditional Canadians and high growth ethnic communities. This vision came to existence in the form of Dakima Marketing & Communications (www.dakima.com ).


Urooj also serves as an Officer for the P4 network of organizations (www.p4bottomline.com ), focusing primarily on Marketing and Communications models that yield prosperity for associated organizations and social entrepreneurs. Urooj is rapidly gaining recognition for his work on the World Wide Web. He sees this as an opportunity to further advance his portfolio and a unique opportunity to connect corporate ventures with social initiatives.
